Himwant Foundation is a one-of-a-kind foundation founded by (Mrs. Sangeeta Thapliyal) to empower women and work towards environmental sustainability.
Our aim is to counter the issue of the skill gap that women face to help them learn skills that not only helps them earn a livelihood but also helps in preserving and healing the environment.
Our major focus is on producing sustainable clothes (especially chunris) used for religious purposes, especially the clothes that are offered to the deities.
The clothes offered to deities in temples are made of synthetic materials that are normally produced in China and sold in India after finishing work. These clothes after being offered to the deities are immersed in the river that leads to pollution. Moreover, they aren’t degradable. Hence, they are extremely harmful for the environment.
At Himwant Foundation, our aim is to replace these clothes with clothes produced with cotton and silk that can be recycled after use. And since all the production is handled by women, we empower women to earn, learn skills, and contribute towards the betterment of the environment.
At Himwant Foundation, we envision a society where human development and environmental responsibility coexist in harmony. Our values inspire us to work tirelessly toward a just, compassionate, and sustainable future — one where every person has the opportunity to thrive while preserving the natural and cultural legacy of the Himalayan region we proudly call home.
Collaboration and inclusivity lie at the heart of our work — we believe that real change happens when communities, organizations, and individuals come together for a shared purpose. Through our programs, we strive to create opportunities for youth, women, and marginalized groups, helping them build self-reliance and confidence.
We are dedicated to empowering communities through education, skill development, and social welfare, ensuring that progress is inclusive and meaningful. Compassion drives our efforts to uplift the underprivileged with dignity and empathy, while integrity guides our commitment to transparency, accountability, and ethical action in every initiative we undertake.
